Ski mountaineering possibilities in Iceland are endless. We have plenty of untouched terrain to offer our adventurous visiting skiers, the season is from around the middle of March and well into June.
If you're short on time in Iceland and can't participate in one of our longer tours, talk to us about creating a shorter one. We can arrange shorter tours out of Reykjavík or wherever in the country you are staying, allowing you maximum flexibility around your busy traveling schedule.
Many of the hills and ridges have never been skied on before!
If you are spending a little more time in Iceland there are plenty of other options available, the most popular one is combining sailing and skiing. Sail from peak to peak on beautifully restored 60ft oak sailboats and explore the mountainous area around Eyjafjörður in North Iceland to its fullest. Not to mention the endless possibilities Hornstrandir have to offer on these matters!
The two most active ski mountaineering area is definitely the Troll peninsula in Northern Iceland and above mentioned Hornstrandir nature reserve where many of the countless slopes and peaks are surrounded by the Arctic Ocean, allowing you to ski from your peak of choice all the way down to the ocean.
